Did you know...

  • We use wine barrels from France, Spain and Italy, and each barrel only once.
  • Every month we top up the barrels, so no air gets to the beer.
  • The label says which barrel the beer comes from, for example "barrique 11".
  • Store the bottles upright and cool.
  • Always a small edition.

About the barrel ageing

In 1998 Kris laid his very first Oerbier to rest in old sherry casks. That makes De Dolle Brouwers one of the pioneers of barrel-aged beer in Belgium. Since then, now and then a selected batch of Oerbier goes into wine barrels for at least a year, where it develops further and takes on notes of wood, wine and tannin, each time in a limited, numbered edition.
